The Wacky Pencil Box is a ‘3 moves to open’ puzzle box, that has

been retro-fit into a vintage box that was found in an antique store. This pencil box is unique in and of itself in the way that it opens and holds itself closed, and turning this little wooden wonder into a puzzle box is made easier by this simple plan.  This locking mechanism is quite simple to build and can be produced in about 1 hour (or less) with the random scraps of wood around your shop.  A small steel ball bearing and a small rare earth magnet is all that is needed.  A great first project, if you happen to have one of these kicking around your home.
