Young’s Point resident Kelly Snake creates mechanical puzzle boxes that are a combination of art and mystery. In early August one of Mr. Snake’s creations placed in the top 10 at the International Puzzle Party held in Berlin Germany
(PETERBOROUGH) Kelly Snake created a mechanical puzzle box that involved more than 100 moves and took a man 33 hours to open.
This is what Mr. Snake does. It’s his thing.
He gets an idea in his head then takes pieces of rich mahogany or zebra wood, or antique jewelry boxes, or old tea boxes and turns them into what can only be described as beautiful brain ticklers
The boxes look simple enough to open. However, they are anything but. Each box is unique. Each puzzle more puzzling than the last. The owner of the piece must try and figure out how to open the box. Of course, each puzzle comes with a solution for those who just can’t wait to learn the trick.
Mr. Snake became interested in woodworking when he was 16 years old after he saw his father make a corner cabinet for his grandmother.
“I was hooked from the beginning,” explains the Young’s Point resident.
